De Casa a Europa!
Multiplier event at the Skillman Alliance Summit 2024

From home to Europe! is a EU-funded project designed to emphasise the importance of local sustainability as an essential driver of a broader European sense of community. The main objectives of the project are:

  • Contribute to increasing employment at both local and European levels

  • Contribute to reducing social inequality

  • Promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda

Throughout the project, adult educators are trained on the importance of local development to boost economies and societies and their role in the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

An important focus of the project is to raise awareness of the necessary processes for undertaking sustainable and local entrepreneurship; educate adult educators about the basic local needs required to shape a common and effective European strategy; introduce them to various local initiatives and projects with regional, national, and European impact; highlight the importance of migration in the development of communities and in cultural enrichment at the European level; foster a sense of local and European community.

For this purpose, a multiplier event of the project will be carried out at the Skillman Alliance Summit 2024 on June 4-5 at Villa Cheli (Lucca), given the aligned views with the Skillman network on the topics addressed by the EU project. For the occasion, the project will be presented to the broader audience of the Skillman community and relevant topics of the project will be discussed with the participants.

With the development of new educational material on local and European development, the trainers from partner organisations and other involved organisations will acquire new quality resources to educate students on local development. This material will include a special section dedicated to the importance of migratory movements as the foundation of local, cultural, and social development in regions, thus contributing to the social inclusion of a vulnerable group such as migrants. Additionally, various learning opportunities will be provided to the final target audience, adult students, encompassing not only sustainable entrepreneurship skills but also real opportunities and projects currently taking place locally in their communities, aiming primarily at the social well-being of the people in their community. In this way, both the trainers who receive the course and the final target audience participating in the workshops will learn about new opportunities for civic participation at both local and European levels.
