THE EC SUPPORTS SKILLMAN’S ENDORSEMENT ON THE PACT FOR SKILLS

Last year, the European Commission approved the Skillman’s application on the endorsement of the European Pact for Skills, a shared engagement model for skills development in Europe promoted by the European Commission. The Pact was officially launched on November 10, 2020.

Becoming member of the Pact for Skills means joining a growing community of private and public stakeholders (businesses (large and small), social partners, education and training providers, associations, clusters organisations, national, regional and local authorities, chambers of commerce or employment services, among others) who contribute to making up- and reskilling a reality.

To support a fair and resilient recovery and deliver on the ambitions of the green and digital transitions and of the EU Industrial and SME Strategies, the Commission invites public and private organisations to join forces and take concrete action to upskill and reskill people in Europe.

The Pact for Skills aims at mobilising a concerted effort for quality investment in skills for all working age people across the Union by bringing together all stakeholders, private and public, which share the objective of up- and reskilling Europe’s workforce and facilitating public-private cooperation.

Starting in 2022, the EU Commission will support the signatories of the Pact with commitments through dedicated services:

  • Networking hub, including: support in finding partners and first meetings of the partnerships; linking with existing EU tools, e.g. Europass, Skills Panorama, EURES and Network of Public Employment Services; promotion of the activities of the Pact members.
  • Knowledge hub, including: webinars, seminars peer learning activities; updates on the EU polices and instruments; information on projects, tools instruments and best practices
  • Guidance and resources hub, including: access to information on relevant EU funding; guidance to identify financial possibilities; facilitation of exchange between the Pact members and national/regional authorities
