On June 11th, 2020, the Skillman Alliance hosted the “Skills and Education Guarantee Pilot (S&E Pilot)” webinar, presented by the European Investment Fund (EIF) and aimed at introducing financing initiatives implemented by the organization on behalf of the European Commission to stimulate investments in education, training and skills.
In line with the EC policy objective to invest in EU quality and inclusive education, training and lifelong learning, EIF, through the S&E Pilot, aims at addressing funding gaps and facilitating access to finance by providing a portfolio guarantee free of charge to financial intermediaries to incentivize lending. Financial Intermediaries (FIs) have to be EU-based institutions and can be banks & financial institutions and organizations supplying education & training. The final beneficiaries to be financed are students and learners, enterprises investing in skills and organizations supplying education & training or developing projects in the field of education.
The main presenters at the webinar were Laoura Ntziourou, Strategy & Business Development Officer at the European Investment Fund and Cecilia Tarrío, Transaction & Relationship Officer at EIF. They skillfully illustrated to the audience the main features of the financial tool, the geographic coverage and eligibility criteria to be a beneficiary and the steps involved in the process of application. The presentation was followed by a quiz for the active participation from the audience and a dynamic Q&A session, where participants actively commented and asked questions to the EIF representatives.
The Skillman secretariat was honoured to reward Mrs Neringa Lenčiauskaitė, Founder of “Ideas and Solutions” in Lithuania, as the winner of the quiz on “Skills and education guarantee pilot”, carried out during the webinar.
Mrs Lenčiauskaitė was addressed with a 300 EUR refund to be spent on travel and accommodation for one of our future onsite Skillman events. Many more valuable awards will be available at every Skillman future events.
