SELFIE – EDUCATION AND TRAINING – EUROPEAN COMMISSION



SELFIE is an initiative of the European Commission. The tool has been developed in close cooperation with a team of experts from schools, education ministries and research institutes across Europe. Partner institutions include the European Training Foundation, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) and UNESCO’s Institute for Information Technologies in Education. SELFIE is one of the 11 actions of the Digital Education Action Plan that European Commission adopted in January 2018 to support technology-use and digital competence development in education. The aim is to “support the digital readiness of both general and vocational schools by strengthening their digital capacity and by making the SELFIE self-assessment tool reach one million teachers, trainers and learners by end of 2019 in all EU Member States and the Western Balkans” (p. 6). It is available in all the official EU languages here.

SELFIE was officially launched on 25 October 2018 at IX High School Klementyna Hoffmanowa, a secondary school in Warsaw, Poland, by Tibor Navracsics, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.  See the press release in all the EU languages here.

SELFIE is currently available in all the 24 official EU languages. More language (Georgian, Russian, Turkish and the languages of the Western Balkans) to be added progressively. SELFIE website includes 3 animated videos (targeting the general public, teachers and students) subtitled in 27 languages.
