GREEN IMMERSION AS BENCHMARK OF EMILIA ROMAGNA REGION

The topic of green immersion and transition is nowadays on everyone’s lips, and it brings a strong impact in our lives and the management of companies concerning sustainability and the Green Economy.  In a transitioning and globalized world, better resource management has become crucial for future well-being. At the Skillman International Forum 2021, we decided to raise awareness about the importance of Green Immersion, and the readiness to respond to the main challenges related to it.  Thanks to the support of Centoform, leader of the Skillman CoVE Cento, we organized a study visit to Cento, in Emilia Romagna (Italy), to discuss this crucial topic from different perspectives. The organization of the study visit emphasized that the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Emilia Romagna Region strongly supports the transition towards a green economy and sustainable competitiveness, maximizing accessibility to training and learning opportunities for all, and supporting the innovation of curricula and qualification standards for a workforce equipped for the evolution of the globalized labor market. Within the morning session of the Study Visit, participants were able to take a look at the green immersion from different perspectives: from the point of view of regional authorities Green transition in Emilia-Romagna Region –State of the art – Daniela Sani – ART-ER; Green skills and green jobs – Nicolò Barbieri – University of Ferrara;  redesigning products and new business models for services – Jude Sherry – Anois; an organization that support different companies toward the Circular economy: a concrete example of application – Andrea Cavagna – Sfridoo; freshly graduated student who just concluded her studies on THVET & Green transition – Asia Guerreschi. In the afternoon, participants had a chance to visit Guidetti Recycling Systems – a leading manufacturer in the field of metals’ recycling that represents the Made in Italy in the world, with the know-how acquired throughout more than thirty years of experience and investments in research and development. The main mission of the company is to design compact machines and lines for the recycling of non-ferrous metals and materials – aluminum, nickel, lead, copper, zinc – through reduction size and dry- separation systems, to safeguard the raw material and make it available to be used. Such recycling allows tons of raw materials to be marketed again, saving energy and resources. Profit achieved in terms of reducing raw material consumption, costs for citizens, and CO2 emissions.
